Located in the
central Newfoundland region, upon the Burgeo/Maelpeg plateau,
Spruce Pond sits astride a wonderful area of healthy animal
populations. The area itself is sparsely populated - with
the nearest community over 100 km away.
Traditional woodland
caribou migrational patterns travel right into the Spruce
Pond area - making it ideal for the fall caribou hunt. Coupled
with the robust moose and black bear populations - and you
have one of hunting's best kept secrets.
Travel to and
from Spruce Pond Lodge is generally by air, and all major
airports in the area are accessible from all major airports
of the Eastern United States and Midwest within 1
days journey.
If you fly into
Newfoundland via the Stephenville or Deer Lake airports,
ground transportation will be provided to a helicopter base
where you will be flown into Spruce Pond Lodge. Hunters
travelling the Marine Atlantic ferry to Port aux Basques
will take approximately 2 1/2 hours from the ferry terminal
to the helicopter base at Peter Stride's Lake on the Burgeo
highway.
